Overview
EN 590 is the European standard that defines automotive diesel fuel for diesel engine vehicles. Diesel made to this standard is a refined petroleum product that meets strict quality norms governing its chemical composition, cetane number, sulphur content and performance characteristics. EN 590 diesel is widely used in road transport, heavy-duty vehicles, trucks, buses, and agricultural machinery.
Its low sulphur content makes it compliant with environmental regulations aimed at reducing harmful emissions. EN 590 diesel is one of the most traded refined fuel products on the global energy market, commonly transacted in large volumes through spot and term contracts between refineries, trading houses, and end-users worldwide.
